Building trades members urged the Fredericksburg City Council to support a project that has already been scaled back, redesigned and committed to union labor.
The Baltimore-DC Metro Building Trades Council (BDCBT) and 1500 Gateway LLC, a Penzance affiliate, today announced they have entered into a formal agreement to implement a project labor agreement (PLA) for the construction of Penzance’s 1500 Gateway data center project located in Fredericksburg, Va.
The spike in Raising the Bar registrations mirrors a broader, historic jump in interest in the building trades in general, and in Mid-Atlantic apprenticeship programs in particular.
A foundational element of the development is a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) that will cover both the stadium and surrounding hotel and restaurant districts.
Labor testimony urged the council to ensure the project translates into high-quality, local careers by bringing developers to the table before final financial approvals are granted.
The MATC is a 12-member body established by Maryland’s Apprenticeship and Training Law and Regulation.
