Tell DC Council: We Want a Better Deal on RFK Project

Some description text for this item

RFKStadium2

The redevelopment of RFK Stadium and adjacent commercial sites is a $3.7 billion project that, as currently proposed, would include a commitment of more than $1 billion in DC taxpayer money.

While DC Council Chair Phil Mendelson has been able to negotiate improvements to the proposed package with Commanders’ ownership, the deal before the council still lacks construction and post-construction labor agreements and commitments to good union jobs on the two commercial development parcels next to the stadium. These two parcels are slated to include a mix of hospitality, office, retail, and housing.

Project labor agreements are key to ensuring District residents can access good jobs, family-sustaining wages and benefits, and workforce development opportunities.

Without a public commitment by Commanders’ ownership that ensures this enormous DC taxpayer investment will create good family-supporting jobs across the ENTIRE project, there is no guarantee that new commercial development controlled by the team near the stadium will deliver quality employment opportunities for DC residents.

On a development with more than $1 billion in taxpayer subsidies, DC residents deserve a much better deal.

Please use the form on this page to send a message to members of the DC Council and join us in asking them to ensure the RFK stadium legislation has binding commitments to strong labor agreements for both the stadium AND adjacent commercial sector development.

You may customize the sample letter, if you wish. A salutation to the councilmember will automatically be added to the top of your message. Your name & contact info will be added to the bottom, but feel free to add a sign-off such as “Sincerely” etc.
