The IBEW Local 26 –NECA Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) electrical apprenticeship program is an accredited education program. It requires a student with strong math and sciences skills who is dedicated to advancing their career. 

Participants receive on-site job training and classroom coursework to help them build a successful career. Apprentices have the opportunity to work on-site with a NECA contractor, giving them the opportunity to learn first-hand. On-site work is supplemented by coursework developed using the Electrical Training Alliance curriculum.

Earn While You Learn!
Career Tracks
  • Inside Wireman Program
    Five-year program with minimum of 800 hours of
    instruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.
  • Residential Track
    Five-year program with a minimum: of 160 hours of instruction, 10,000 hours of on-the-job training.
  • Telecommunications Track
    Three-year program with a minimum of 480 hours of instruction and 4,800 hours of on-the-job training.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age.
  • Applicants must submit an official copy of their high school transcripts or GEDs.
  • Applicants must have a passing grade in Algebra 1 or GED equivalent.
  • Applicants are required to take an aptitude test.
Application Process

Applications are accepted online at www.jatc26.org. You may verify your documents between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The application process is similar to applying for college. While SAT scores are not required, applicants must provide their high school transcripts showing a passing grade in Algebra I and take a qualifying exam.

    Upon completion, you can make more than $84,000 when working 2,000 hours a year, and over $28,000 a year worth of health and
    retirement benefits.
  • Residential Track
    Upon completion, you can make more than $55,000 when working 2,000 hours a year and over than $17,500 worth of health and retirement benefits.
  • Telecommunications Track
    Upon completion, you can make more than $51,000 when working 2,000 hours a year and over $16,000 a
    year worth of health and retirement benefits.
