Roofers & Waterproofers

Union roofers and waterproofers work on a variety of types of buildings, protecting those facilities against water intrusion and ultimate damage to the structure and its contents.

Waterproofing is a specialty aspect of the roofing trade but is no less important than a roof in protecting a building against moisture intrusion. Waterproofing can be below grade, which is usually foundation work. It can also be done on plaza decks, parking garage floors and other sections of a building where water or moisture protection is crucial.

Local 30 of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers is committed to staying at the forefront of roofing industry education for safety and productivity. To meet industry demands, its state-of-the-art, nationally-recognized apprenticeship program trains the men and women who work in today’s roofing industry.

Local 30’s training programs focus on OSHA 10-hour safety training for first year apprentices. Continuing education is also a high priority. The program also offers upgrade classes for journeyperson workers who want to keep up with ever-changing roofing systems.
