Laborers

Local 11 and Local 710

Union laborers are a skilled and experienced workforce trained to work safely in the construction and energy industries. Members build infrastructure, including roads, bridges, transit systems, schools and buildings. They can be certified to install rainwater catchment systems and trained to build water and sewer systems. Members also work in every area of the energy sector, helping to build solar plants, wind farms, and natural gas and oil pipelines, as well as being skilled in the maintenance of nuclear and coal power plant facilities.

The Baltimore-Washington Laborers Joint Training Fund is the training arm of Mid-Atlantic locals of the Laborers International Union of North American (LiUNA). Laborers new to the trade can acquire the necessary skills to enter the construction industry with confidence.

Apprentices are required to complete a minimum of 300 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on training. To complete the apprenticeship program, 3,200 hours of on-the-job training is also required.
