Elevator Constructors
Local 10
The International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 10, was established in 1902. There is no other vehicle in the world that moves more people and material than elevators, escalators, moving walkways, home lifts, wheelchair and handicap lifts. The elevator industry is ever changing. With these rapid changes in technology
comes a higher demand for individuals to repair, install, maintain, and modernize these transportation modes.
The National Elevator Industry Education Program (NEIEP) was established in 1968. It is a four-year registered program. Upon completing the apprenticeship, a member can continue his or her education and obtain an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Elevator Construction from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
