Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers

Local 1

One of the oldest unions in North America, the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers represents the skilled bricklayers, stone and marble masons, tile setters, terrazzo and mosaic workers, finishers, and pointer/cleaner/caulkers. 

Members of Local 1 lay and bind building materials such as brick, structural tile, concrete block, cinder block, glass block, and terra-cotta block, with mortar and other substances to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, sewers, and other structures.

  • Brick & block layers
    3-year apprenticeship program

Qualifications
  • Age – Minimum age 17.
  • Education – Preferably a high school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Physical Condition – Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade and be able to work a normal workweek on a regular basis.
  • Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have a Social Security card.
  • Pre-job drug screening test.

Great Pay

Journey-level members make $20 to $42 per hour and an additional $8 to $19 per hour in benefits. Apprentices start between 50 –70% of the journeyperson scale with incremental increases.
