Boilermakers

Local 45, Zone 45 and Zone 193

The boilermakers trade includes the fabrication, installation, modification and repair of boilers, hydro dams, tanks, pressure vessels, furnaces and associated equipment such as stacks, platforms in power plants, petroleum refineries, chemical plants, paper mills, steel mills, and food and beverage plants.

The skills required of a construction boilermaker consist of reading blueprints, rigging heavy loads, burning, welding, layout, fit up, fabrication of metal parts and the ability to work in tight spaces and at heights in excess of 100 feet.

Earn While You Learn!
Qualifications
  • Age – Minimum age 18.
  • Education – High school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Physical Condition – Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade and be able to work a normal workweek on a regular basis.
  • Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have a Social Security card.
  • Birth certificate. 
  • Important to have welding certifications.
Application and Entry Procedure

Apply in person at union hall or request application through training center website.

Bring valid photo ID when picking up application; bring copies of other required documents when submitting completed application.

Bring proof of any welding certifications or post-high school training and/or letter from previous employer confirming prior relevant experience, if applicable.
