Our Vision

By working with the community, owners, developers, contractors, and elected officials, we encourage the use of a high-road construction model that enables construction workers to be paid family-sustaining wages, have access to benefits for themselves and their family, be safe on the job and retire with dignity,

Our apprenticeship programs and journeyperson-upgrade training provide the most highly skilled workforce to our contractor partners in the industry. Through local outreach to community organizations, schools, job readiness providers and government organizations, we raise awareness of opportunities in the construction industry and prepare the next generation of construction workers for lifelong careers.

Our apprenticeship programs and journeyperson-upgrade training provide the most highly skilled workforce to our contractor partners in the industry.

By encouraging public and private investments in the construction industry that promote increased access to career training and employment, we provide value to the industry and strengthen the communities in which we live and work.

We create opportunities for lifelong, quality careers through partnerships on pre-apprenticeship and jointly managed apprenticeship programs across the greater Baltimore/D.C./NorthernVirginia region.

Our Mission

The Baltimore-D.C. Metro Building Trades Council is committed to embracing change and innovation that results in measurable value that is easily perceived by industry, government and community leaders.

Through sustained and collaborative efforts with these partners — centered upon pre-apprenticeship programs, apprenticeship programs, and the “Helmets to Hardhats” program — we collectively move the needle of industry and social change in the direction of greater employment opportunity and economic advancement, ensuring that construction is a viable family-sustaining career.

We prioritize cooperation not conflict, problem-solving not problem-making, collaboration not division, and inclusion not exclusion.

We prioritize cooperation not conflict, problem-solving not problem-making, collaboration not division, and inclusion not exclusion.

By marshaling our career training resources, our political resources, and our capital financing resources, we create the synergy needed to create and foster more employment and career training opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic construction market for many historically neglected communities – in particular women, minorities, and military veterans.
